Nissan is letting its NISMO group loose on the Z sportscar four years after its launch. For the first time, Nissan says, it will offer a NISMO 350Z, which is due to make its North American premiere at the 2007
The NISMO Z carries over its 306-hp, 3.5-liter V-6, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. But its aerodynamic body kit is new: it wears a new front fascia, side skirts, a rear spoiler and a new rear fascia with an air diffuser, all of which produces downforce for better high-speed handling, Nissan promises.
To help boost its track handling and on-road stiffness, the NISMO car gets extra body welds and supports, along with body dampers in the radiator and the cargo area. The suspension is retuned for high-performance driving, and Brembo four-piston brakes are fitted up front (two-piston Brembos ride in the rear) as are RAYS forged alloy wheels.
Traction control and variable steering are included, along with cruise control and high-intensity headlamps. And inside, the NISMO Z gets red stitching on its black seats, aluminum trim, and a white-faced tach.
The NISMO 350Z goes on sale in July.
